Hello, Diva.

If you are anything like me, YOU LOVE KNOWLEDGE… You love the idea of reading more books and improving your mental capacity. But as much as you love to read books, you struggle with getting through a book just like me. I know what the guilt feels like and I will like to share from experience how I handle reading more books even with my crazy schedules. I will also share useful tips from one of my mentors- Jay Shetty, how you can actually READ MORE BOOKS, gain more knowledge and competence.

My Experience:

  1. Figure Out Your Preference- I some times describe books as food- there is a wide variety of delicious meals all over the world but I don’t exactly like ALL of them just because they are filling or satisfying. The point is, know what kind of books you prefer- Self-help, Biographies, autobiographies, business books, religious books, fantasy, adventure, etc. Once you know what you prefer, it will also be good to know what format you prefer your book- Hard copy, soft copy, or audio copy. I noticed recently that I have read more books because I could listen to them while I took notes. There are also other times I have enjoyed reading hard copy books because I could journal directly on the materials.
    Know what works for you.
  2. Read to KNOW- In a world where everything is almost all about a To-Do list, we find too many people reading just so they can brag about having read a particular book. Please be different- Read because you want to gain knowledge that can be applied. Like Jay Shetty will say “You will find when you read; if you know what you need.” This speaks of approaching reading and books with a learner mindset. With every book or desire to read, you stand a better chance if you know what you want to get from the books.

Jay Shetty shares more insights into how you can read more books.

In this podcast, Jay Shetty discusses how he read a book a day during a one-year period and shares his 4-S strategy to reading that anyone can use to tackle their reading list.

Shetty also shared his insights on the mistakes people make when reading and how to avoid them. The key to reading more and enjoying it isn’t willpower or reading cover to cover.
