I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Romans 12:1-2

You want to see God’s will be done in your life, renew your mind with His word.
Change your mindset. Change your perspective.  This is because as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.

The apostle Paul talks about a scenario many believers face in Romans 7:21-25 in your Spirit man, your desire is to live a life pleasing onto God but instead, you keep doing the evil you do not want to do or you keep slacking one way or another. And this doesn’t mean you’re not saved. Like we’ve established in previous devotions, it is the spirit of man that is saved not his body. (Man is a spirit, has a soul and lives in a body)

The question is how do you make the testimony of your Spirit become the testimony of your mind and body? How can the life you’ve received in Christ become your culture? How can you deliver yourself from desiring God but finding another law at work in your body?

Our opening text is the answer

Romans 12:2 says; “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
[2]And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”

One crucial thing to point out here is that there’s no middle ground. If you neglect God’s word, if you neglect the responsibility of renewing your mind, you will conform to this world (consciously or unconsciously).

Man is a product of his environment, what he gives himself to determines the fruits in his life. Our opening text tells us that if we renew our minds, there will be a transformation: the born again spirit will begin to dominate and influence our body and the will of God will be done in our lives.
Here are some tips to help in renewing your mind

1. Be interested

Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Timothy 4:13

Give attention to prayer and word study, interest yourself in fellowshipping with the brethren, don’t isolate yourself. Don’t come to a point where your favorite game or movie gets more of your attention than the things of God. Create an environment that helps your relationship with God strive. Stop listening to the wrong songs and watching the wrong things. Remember “garbage in garbage out”

2. Be Consistent.

This is key! It must be an everyday affair. It is okay to start small when it comes to spiritual exercises, but be consistent and grow over time. Our walk with God is a journey, not a sprint!

3. Be Fervent.

When it comes to the things of God let your passion and emotions be involved. when you pray, let your passion be involved, when you hear God’s word, receive it with Joy and practice what you hear.

If you’re interested, Consistent and fervent in the things of God, your born again spirit will gain ascendancy over your mind and body.
It’s that simple.
